DAY CARE SERVICE USERS GUIDE
Mardon House provides a comfortable home from home setting for those seeking Day Care.
Having agreed with your Care needs and taken into consideration your individual needs, we will offer you an individual Care Plan You may wish to use some of the discounted services from visiting professionals such as Chiropodists, Hair stylists, Opticians, as well as sessions of reminiscence therapy etc. We also provide entertainments each week and we have a substantial large type library of books which you are free to borrow at anytime also Mobile clothes shops visit regularly.
Our home has a resident cat called “Blackie”.
The downstairs bathroom has an hydraulic seat for lifting people into and out of the bath. The upstairs bathroom is accessed by a stair lift. However we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users due to the unusual layout of the building. We pride ourselves on our home cooked food which is prepared fresh each day from local produce. We are able to accommodate special diets such as Diabetic or Dairy Free. Often during the Spring and Summer residents use the large garden at their leisure. Tables and chairs are set out on the patio and a large umbrella during sunny weather. The garden is often visited by local wildlife such as squirrels, and wild birds. The sun lounge overlooks the patio and our garden which is inhabited by various wildlife.
If ever the need arises Mardon House provides an Emergency and Respite Care service for those who may be taken ill and need somewhere to recover quickly before returning home.
Mardon House has been established for over 28 years and the present owners have been running the home since 2009.
Mardon House was formerly a Georgian Coaching House and fronts Higher Brimley Road. The main feature of Mardon House is its large south facing Garden at the rear with its Patio and large lawn, its trees wildlife and goldfish pond. We are only a few minutes walk from the seafront shops, escorted trips can be arranged.
Mardon House provides warm and friendly Care for the Elderly frail of both genders. We encourage residents to come and go as they please while maintaining their health and safety. Each clients independence, dignity and privacy is always respected and encouraged.
We are a small family run Residential Home and as resident Proprietors we make it our business to ensure that residents enjoy their time with us.
You are invited to visit on a trial basis before making a decision . We are prepared to meet you in your own home to enable assessment on both sides if you wish.
We are Registered with the commission for Social Care Inspection(now CQC) and Accredited with the local authority.
We are a member of the Residential Care Homes Trust.
We have published documents outlining our Aims and Objectives, also our care home statement of general policy for Health and Safety.
We have a range of policies which we are required to have covering all aspects of you care including published statements of principle and policy committing Mardon House to the prevention of abuse as well as an Equal Opportunities policy statement.

DAY CARE CHARGES ARE CHARGED AT THREE LEVELS AND ARE DEPENDANT UPON THE LEVEL OF CARE REQUIRED BY THE INDIVIDUAL PERSON. 2008-2009
LEVEL / BAND 1 £35.00 PER DAY
LEVEL / BAND 2 £40.00 PER DAY
LEVEL / BAND 3 £45.00 PER DAY
THESE CHARGES INCLUDE: Morning coffee, lunch, mid afternoon tea and bathing.
THE ABOVE CHARGES DO NOT INCLUDE: Transport.
A trial day is recommended.
BEATING OUR DRUM! And why not? Whether they be Long Term, Short Term, or Day Care Attendees we offer the same quality of care to all who use the facilities at Mardon House.
We receive referrals from Social Workers seeking to place people who may need or demand a type of care that falls outside that offered by ordinary Residential Homes.
We are registered for EMI category Residents and offer care for those whose behaviour or special needs require that extra something to make their lives worthwhile.
We believe that a persons quality of life is extremely important to enable them to achieve their expected longevity. And why not? Whether it is the right to die with dignity or to be allowed to have a glass of whisky every night before bed or to stay up late to watch television and lie on in bed in the mornings if they wish, your desire is our command.
If you are a long term resident we will paint your bedroom any colour you choose, you can have bacon and eggs for breakfast or just toast with real butter or speciality spread, the choice is yours. We will always treat you with dignity and respect, on the other hand we will willingly tickle your toes if you prefer.
Let us encourage you to do those things that you regret giving up, like jigsaw puzzles, knitting, painting or drawing, All arts and crafts are encouraged or can be arranged. We have a large garden and you can have your own plot in it if you can manage it or else we could give you a window box if you prefer.
We have a large print library for you to use and you can have your own daily newspaper, you might prefer to have SKY TV linked directly to your room with a large screen television and a dvd recorder or else you can have silence for some peace and quiet. Please feel free to bring your own furniture and effects to make your stay even more like home from home.
But whatever you decide we will always make you feel welcome and loved.
